Community Outreach

Joslin’s Office of Community Outreach Programs provides a key link to the community to expand the reach of Joslin care and education into surrounding Greater Boston and Massachusetts. This office sends a liaison into city and state-level public health meetings to improve access to culturally appropriate diabetes care.

Joslin participates in a variety of community events, which provide much-needed screening opportunities for underserved communities.

In addition to these special event activities, the Initiative has ongoing support relationships with two local community health centers: Dimock Community Health Center and Joseph Smith Community Health Center. The knowledge gained through the onsite Latino Diabetes Clinic helps us provide up-to-date services and support for the important work of community-based clinics. Both programs provide bilingual diabetes care and education, provider education and health outreach services to underserved communities in Boston.
