Erika Sarcinelli

Latino Diabetes Initiative Volunteer

Erika Sarcinelli works as a research volunteer for the Joslin Latino Diabetes Initiative. She was born in Venezuela and is trilingual in English, Spanish and Italian.

Erika studied at the Universidad Metropolitana located in Caracas where she graduated in psychology with a specialization in psychotherapeutic techniques and group intervention. She received honors from the publication of her thesis entitled "Design of a Psychoeducational Manual Support children 8 to 13 years with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes and their families, based on positive psychology."

Erika’s family experiences with diabetes and her previous studies encouraged her to participate in the visitors program of the Latino Initiative.

After completing the program for visitors, Erika began volunteering in research and collaborating in the various programs and projects that the initiative offers to patients of the Latino community.
