Exercise

Physical activity is a primary tool for managing diabetes. Even in the 1920s, Elliott P. Joslin, M.D. (the founder of Joslin Diabetes Center) recommended exercise along with diet and insulin as the ingredients for good diabetes treatment. And today, as the nation's rate of obesity climbs and lifestyles become more sedentary, exercise is more important than ever.

Resources to Help You Get Moving

Joslin offers tips for increasing physical activity. But before you get started, take a few minutes to review Joslin's Fitness Plan Checklist, to find out if you're physically ready to begin an exercise program.
