Studies for Either Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes

Volunteers needed in diabetes study

Description: Do you want to contribute to cutting edge research in diabetes? The Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston is conducting a new research study to investigate Induced Pluripotent cells (iPS) in diabetes. Induced pluripotent cells (iPS) are cells that can be grown forever in a laboratory and can become other types of cells. These cells may someday help us to predict who is at risk of developing diabetes, which may lead to a better understanding of the disease process or possible new therapies . 

Recruiting: If you are between 18-70 years of age with or without diabetes you may be eligible to participate in the study. Participants will come to the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston 1-2 times, complete a health history and have a brief physical exam, give a sample of blood, urine and a skin biopsy, have cells grown in a laboratory from their skin sample indefinitely for future use.Parking will be covered, although there is no other compensation for participating in this study.

Exclusions include: history of bleeding disorders, and history of irregular heart rhythms.
