• At least 7 million Americans have diabetes and don’t even know it. 
• The risk for stroke is 2 to 4 times higher among people with diabetes.
• Diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness among adults aged 20–74 years.
• Women who have had gestational diabetes have a 35% to 60% chance of developing diabetes in the next 10–20 years.
