Debbie Butler, M.S.W.

Debbie Butler has been working at Joslin Diabetes Center since 1996. She received her Masters in Social Work from Boston University in 1999. She has experience working with children, teens, and adults with diabetes, as well as their family members.

Debbie is actively involved in our support group for parents of Joslin teenagers which began in 1999 through a generous grant from the Katherine Adler Astrove Youth Education Fund. Since the start of that group, Debbie has been working with the Joslin Pediatric and Adolescent team to develop a program that would reach a larger number of children, teens, and their parents, since many people are unable to attend our monthly support groups in Boston. Debbie is particularly interested in using the Internet as a way to support individuals with diabetes and their families in order to enable people with diabetes to be more successful managing their condition, thereby improving their overall health. The Astrove fund helps support this online discussion board.

When moderating the discussion board, Debbie is supported by the rest of the diabetes treatment team at Joslin Pediatric and Adolescent Unit.
